Ryan Katz

Ryan Katz graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he received the top grade in Trial Practice. He has spent much of his life hearing about important issues in criminal defense and learning how to navigate the criminal justice system. Criminal defense law has always been a part of Ryan’s life, whether it was hearing about issues at the dinner table, attending defense seminars, or discussing cases and strategies at home with his parents, both of whom are lawyers. Since starting as an attorney, Ryan has handled dozens of cases involving criminal charges both in misdemeanor and felony courtrooms. Ryan also travels around the state of Florida, teaching at U.S. LawShield seminars helping people to understand how to stay out of the criminal justice system and defend themselves lawfully in Florida. Combining his passion and lifelong involvement in the criminal defense and firearms communities with his law school education has given Ryan the perfect career in criminal defense, Second Amendment, and self-defense law. Although recently licensed, Ryan has more training and experience in this area than most attorneys have in a 30-year career.

Ryan has received specialized training in the following critical areas of criminal law:

  • Gun Shot Residue
  • Blood Spatter Evidence
  • DNA analysis
  • Effects of high-stress encounters on memory recall
  • Evaluating use of force decision making
  • DUI defense
  • Contesting the Breath Test Results
  • Contesting Blood Test Results
  • Field Sobriety Testing
  • Assessing imminent threats
  • Human performance and the use of force
  • And more
